Red & Lace

Hello My Lovliesss,

How have you all been? Sorry for the long hiatus; as they say, it was due to circumstances beyond my control.

So i had the shortest stint ever with red hair; I have never been a team natural or team perm person. Like i always say "its just hair" but damn, i never know how to style my hair and it can be frustrating sometimes. I must have complained about 100 times to berry & bex.
I woke up one day and was so so so bored with my hair and i decided to color it. There's absolutely nothing wrong with coloring your hair but not when you aren't sure about what color to get :-) My sisters were convinced i was going through some sort of mid-life crisis...lol.

I set out to dye it honey-blonde or chestnut but ended up with red that should have been wine/burgundy...lol. Now you see how confused i was???.

Anyways i had the color on for just one week but i didn't like all the attention i got. (Everyone loved it though). I am one very shy person (hard to believe right) so anything that would cause unnecessary attention is definitely not for me. I'm sure you are wondering how i thought i could hide with my red hair...lol.

On to today's post jare, remember the champagne guipure fabric i bought a few months ago? Oh well, i made it into a nice lace skirt and i love it so much.
Paired it with a simple black top, champagne pearls and PVC shoes.

 What do you think?
Thanks for always reading lovlies, have a blessed fabulous week ahead.

Quote of the week: Everything you pray for, you must prepare for.

Giveaway!!!

Hello My Lovliessss,

Hope you had a good weekend? I promised to bring pictures from my birthday but unfortunately, i didn't get round to taking any plus i told you it would be a quiet one. For some reason, it was such a busy monday at work and i don't know why i assumed my workload would miraculously reduce for my birthday...lol. Anyways, i had fun because my friends surprised me and popped in to see me at work. Got loads of flowers, cakes and presents.
So i thought my birthday was over on monday but i kept getting presents and cakes up until two days ago. My darling berry and her husband cakes surprised me with this gorgeous bouquet of cupcakes. Trust me, this picture doesn't do justice to how lovely they looked. It tasted so delicious too. Thank you Kessiena & Berry. Follow cakes @cakesiena to see more.
Meanwhile, i said to myself that my darling readers would think i have forgotten the giveaway i promised last month; i have finally gotten round to it. I wanted to get something really nice and also hadn't quite figured out what the criteria for winning would be. Anyways, I spotted this gorgeous, sexy wrap dress by Rukky Simone (my new love) @greyvelvet and thought it would be perfect. I really wish i had my mannequin at home just to show how lovely the dress really is.
All you have to do is leave a comment and your email address in the comment box, follow me on instagram @stylefash25 and you could be the winner of this lovely dress.

The winner would be selected through a random generator, and the giveaway is open for one week to readers in Lagos.

Thank you for always reading my lovliess, have a fabulous week ahead.

Birthday Girl... Forever 21

Hey My Loviessss,

How have you all been? Long time, i know i've been so behind on my posts. I would love to explain but guess what? IT'S MY BIRTHDAY and i know you would all forgive my sins today...LOL.
So i woke up today feeling all happy, excited and thankful for the 25th of August. This is one day in the year dedicated to me. I remember my birthdays growing up; if it was a school day, mummy dearest would make sure i celebrate in school with all my classmates and if it was a weekend, there would definitely be a parry at home or somewhere sha. (God bless you in Heaven Mama). What i remember vividly and miss dearly was her coming into the bedroom really early, waking me up with the 'Happy birthday tooo youuuuu' song followed by her prayers.
Fast forward to recent years and as i get older, i just want to have a quiet birthday with loads and loads of presents sha...hhahaha. Oh well, lets see what the rest of the day brings. I would definitely be posting on instagram @stylefash25 and i'll probably do another post later in the week with more pictures.
So i was born with two strands of grey hair somewhere in the middle of my hair and i've never bothered with them until i woke up one morning 2 years ago and i saw one strand of grey hair staring at me around my edges. I said to myself, grey hair ke? what happened to my agreement with God to be forever 21...lol. I ran to show my baby sister and she just kept laughing saying old age has come o...lol.
Don't mind me jare, i just want to be a babe even when i'm 70...lol (and i know there are teenagers out there already grey, so its definitely not an age thing). I am truly happy with the lady/woman i'm becoming and life can only get better. I cannot even begin to count my blessings, trust me, some blessings i'll count twice :-)

Join me my lovies in thanking this my amazing Father, the King of Kings, Lord of lords, the Most High God and love of my life for preserving me and giving me another year to praise Him.

Have an ama-zing week ahead and i'll send some cyber cake to you all.

Thanks for always reading lovies.

P.s the lovely fushia pants and striped top is by Ruki Simone. Got it at Grey Velvet and pvc shoes are max mara.

xoxo.

Bows in August

Hello Loviessss,

Happy New Month!!! Hope you all had a splendid weekend? I had a pretty good one half wishing there could be a repeat of the short holiday (if wishes were horses...).

Anyways i have been in a very happy mood because its my birthday month and there is so much to be thankful for.
My mind drifted to my primary school days when we would form a big circle break time and sing the popular song "All those that are born in January...." I am not sure i knew the correct lyrics then because i used to say " All those that are born in August stand up stand up, ariya riya roses God bless you..."Hahaaha. Whatever ariya riya meant then only God knows...LOL.
Anyways, fast forward to today and thank God for my friend google, i searched childhood songs and i almost passed out from laughing; remembering the songs we used to sing then and also the correct lyrics...lol.

Well if you went to primary school in Nigeria, you would remember the following songs:
- Who stole the meat from the cooking pot, number 1 stole the meat from the cooking pot who me? Yes you, it couldn't be, then who?...lol
- Sanda lily sanda lily which i later found out was- standard living standard living...lol
- Oh my home, oh my home when shall i see my home (ireti give us food o) ...hahaha
- Old roger is dead and gone to his grave...hahahaha
and the list continues.
While I am sure the children of today would have their own moments i doubt they'll have as much fun compared to what we had then *Just Saying*
So i have tagged August my month of celebration because God has promised me there would be something to celebrate in my life everyday in this month of August.
On to my outfit of the day, i am wearing a white Oasis crop jacket with tiny bow and gold button details on the sleeves and pockets, cobalt blue skirt and my very comfy RL shoes - old.
In other news, i need a holiday badly, I honestly can't wait to go away and just rest. Excuse my slightly irritated left eye, i woke up this morning and noticed it was a bit dark, this usually happens when my body needs time out. Thankfully its not very obvious in the pictures.

Have a fabulous week ahead lovies and if there songs you remember from your childhood? Lets read them in the comment box, i am sure we would all have a good laugh.

Thanks for always reading.

xoxo.

Standing Tall in the Storm & Dancing in the Rain

Hello My Loviesss,

Happy Eid-Mubarak. I have been so happy since friday and i am sure you know why; the much needed break has been the best thing to happen to me since sliced bread :-p. I have been working, working and working, wondering when i'll get some time out just to catch my breath and thankfully, Eid-Mubarak made it happen.

So I woke up about 5am today -can you imagine on a holiday; i guess my body is just used to it. As i lay in bed listening to the sound of rain, my mind sort of drifted to the popular saying 'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, its about learning to dance in the rain'.

There are so many interpretations given to this saying:
- Not letting bad stuff get you down
- Not allowing anything deter you from reaching your full potentials
- Learning to enjoy the journey and having a positive attitude in the stormy seasons
- Not wasting time and waiting around for the perfect time to start living your life.
- Learning to adapt to change no matter what it is.
and the list goes on.

For me, as i become more mature, i am learning to embrace life and the storms that come with it. I often strike people as a very strong, 'tough times don't last but tough people do' kind of girl...bleh. If only you all know how easily i cry...lol. Every day i am thankful for the bible that daily reminds me about God being with me no matter how bad it gets.
I am learning daily to stand tall in the inevitable storms that life brings, learning also to sing and dance no matter what the weather brings because i am the child of the Most High.
So this isn't really a style post because i didn't plan to dress up for a blog post. But you know how i am, i took one look at myself and said errm this should be blog worthy i think...lol.

I paired one of my favorite jumpsuits in jersey animal print with a black shrug because it was a bit cold, a pair of gold slippers and a tan bag. Very comfortable look for running errands or just having a laid back day.
This jumpsuit can also be dressed up by taking off the shrug, pairing it with nice heels, a lovely belt and gorgeous clutch and you are all glammed up.

Maybe i was trying to suck belle here, i don't know...lol.
Have a fabulous break and week ahead my lovies, thank you for always reading  and remember to:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. Prov 3:5-6.

Denim, Dusty Pleats & Help!!!

Hey Loviesssss,

Hope you had a fabulous weekend? Mine was alright, i spent saturday at a retreat and sunday i tried to rest and cook.

So my favorite meal is beans and dodo plantain, the softer the better...hehehe and trust me when i say i can make all kinds of beans, in fact, my beans has been nicknamed designer beans...LOL. Anyways, on to my story. I set out to make one of my special beans recipes with snails, fish, beef etc cut in tiny pieces and i had prepped everything when i realized the beans had weevils in it (Thats when i should have known that there was drama coming my way). I quickly sent someone to the market (Btw, I love cooking but dislike going to the market - I prefer organized spaces for shopping) to get some for me and she came back with the popular "honey beans" (supposed to be tastier than the normal one) and i started my wonderful meal. I put it on my cooker at about 4pm and at 7pm, the beans was still hard as rock; i kept adding warm water as usual and it kept getting harder. I began to wonder whether the beans was possessed. (Meanwhile, i do not own a pressure cooker because i have been procrastinating getting one). I was so hungry at this point, i put enough water and dozed off (after all, it wasn't my first time making beans).

To cut the long story short, i woke up at 9pm and guess what, this beans was still so hard. At this point i decided to throw away the demonic beans...lol. As if things couldn't get any worse, i noticed the pressure of the flame from the cooker had reduced significantly and my worse nightmare happened. My gas finished...ahn ahn who did i offend? I angrily carried the pot downstairs because i had had enough and decided i was going to settle for cereal and just go to bed; perhaps God was saving me from something.

I got downstairs and met the new security guard Muktar and he said "Aunty why you dey vex?" I told him nothing, that my gas had finished and i couldn't go on cooking. I couldn't tell him the whole story of cooking beans for 5 hours and beans still being hard. Anyways he said in broken english "Aunty don't throw it away, i'll give you my special electric cooker and the beans go don cook in 30 minutes if its not cooked, give me, i go chop am".

At that point, i had nothing to lose anyway so i thought to myself, 5 hours + an extra 30 minutes; oh well lets try it. And i took muktar's magic electric burner upstairs and put the pot of beans on it and indeed ladies and gentlemen, in 30 minutes, my the beans was very soft and ready to cook...LOL. I added all my sen-ren-ren ingredients and allowed to cook a little more and my delicious beans and plantain was ready.

Moral of the story.... SF get a pressure cooker, SF,get an electric burner, SF cook the normal beans and not the honey one, SF never underestimate where help might come from, you just never know.
And oh, before i forget to blog about my outfit i wore to church and how amazing the weather was, here you go...

I wore my washed out denim top, dusty pink pleated skirt, black sash, cobalt T-Bar shoes and borrowed purse from my baby sister.

Have an amazing week lovies.

xoxo.
