The Maxi Dress

Hello Loviessssss,

Its been a minute since my last post, hope you've all have been good?

For today's post, i am wearing one of my favorite maxi dresses i got a while ago. I personally think every girl should own one in her wardrobe. The versatility and chic look it gives when dressed up or down can't be over emphasized and might i also add that for those weekends when you sort of have a brain block on what to wear, you most likely wouldn't go wrong with a maxi dress.

For my own outfit, i dressed up mine with a white blazer and when i was done with my function, i took off the blazer and wore an easy pair of slippers and went about my busy day on the streets of lagos :-)

What do you think about maxi dresses generally? Are they a life saver or can you do without them?

Thanks for always reading lovies.

xoxo.

Outfit:
Maxi Dress: Really Old; don't remember
White Blazer: Gap
Nexkpiece: Chic Accessories
Wristwatch: Rado

Personally, i feel the maxi dress can be worn by anyone from slim, tall, plus size, petite etc. There have been some school of thought that petite chics shouldn't wear the maxi dress. I beg to differ;  i feel once you get the colors and length right, it can be pulled off. I have put together some pictures of various ways to wear the maxi dress.

In Pursuit of the Ankara Inspired Asos Dress

Hello Loviesssss,

So the dress pictured above has caused me some sleepless nights :-) Hmm. I saw it first a while ago on pinterest and i initially thought it was an Ankara fabric but then i decided to trace it to the lovely blogger Skinny Hipster just to be super sure and found out it was ASOS... Yes ASOS. You can imagine my Alingazonto dance moves when i realized it was just an order away. Everything about the dress screamed my name; from the print-cut-the length-its simple chic fit etc. I just knew i wanted to own it. And i didn't even care/mind if it became an aso-ebi /common.
Like a kid going to the candy store, i went straight to their website and decided to order, and i got the Out Of Stock message. I was so upset. I don't know why i can't just love a dress in peace without the whole world loving the same dress...LOLOooooL.

Anyways i took my mind off the dress and just thought i wasn't meant to own it. Then one fateful day, a friend who sells clothes had it on her Blackberry display picture. I very quickly rang her and she said she had it in stock. I drove to her that weekend only for us to find out that she mistakenly ordered a size 6. Can you imagine? I left her shop semi-sad but just told myself it was time to move on from this dress seeing that all efforts to get it hadn't worked out.
When i left my friend's shop, i drove straight to the nail studio to get my nails done and just as they were being filed, i noticed a lovely fabric lying beside Nike my nail lady and i asked her who owned it, she replied saying"Aunty i just started selling ankara fabrics o, are you interested?" I looked at it closely and you can imagine the thoughts going through my head. I loved all the colors on this fabric so i immediately paid for it before one story would come up again; maybe Nike would say someone else has paid for it and she would get another one for me... bla bla bla, you all know how stories like that end...hehehe.
Anyways, i reached really really really deep within me(because work has been crazy & sewing has been the last thing on my mind) and called forth the Sura the Tailor in me and after 4 weeks of sewing the dress in bits, it came out looking like this.

I was quite happy with the outcome and i think it would give the Asos dress a run for its money.
So what do you guys think?

Thanks for always reading lovies have a fabulous Monday.

xoxo.
